Using correct punctuation

Quotation marks are often confused with primes (single-tick and double-tick), and get used outside the feet/minutes, inches/seconds, or mathematical purposes for which they are intended. Use the proper characters as follows: -

Note that the ALT key is intended to be used with a numeric keypad, so laptop users will need to enable their keypad modifier!

Single quotes, on a Mac, use Option+] and Shift+Option+] for the left (open) and right (closed) single quotes. For Windows, use ALT 0145 and ALT 0146 for the left and right single quotes (hold down the ALT key and type the numbers on the numeric keypad).

Double quotes, on a Mac, use Option+[ and Shift+Option+[ for the left and right double quotes. For Windows, use ALT 0147 and ALT 0148 for the left and right double quotation marks (curly quotes).

Similarly ‘ etc can be used in HTML. There are unicode numbers 8216, 8217, 8220, 8221.
